Funding update

The Wakefield East Community Panel has been informed by CDF that the funding available for this financial year will now have to be allocated by June 2012 rather than the end of March.

This gives members of the community more time to apply and the panel more time to make decisions on recommending projects.

We are still waiting to hear from CDF about our priorities. As soon as we do application forms can be mailed out. To register an interest in the funding please send an email to wakefieldeastcommunitypanel@hotmail.co.uk

Wakefield East Community Panel sets priorities

The Wakefield East Community Panel met for the first time on Thursday 26th January to decide on priorities for the ward.

Representatives from a wide range of backgrounds and covering all geographical areas of the Ward had some lively discussions and came up with the following four priorities:

Stronger and sustainable communities
People have better chances in life
Improved environments
Healthier and more active communities

Details of these priorities have now been submitted to Community Development Foundation and the paperwork for requesting grant aid is being completed. Once this has been done the panel will be working on publicising the grant pot and how people can apply.

The Wakefield East Community Panel web site has been set up to help residents of the Wakefield East Ward of Wakefield District find out more about the Community First funding that is available to community groups in the ward.

On this website over the next few weeks we will post more information about the funding, how to access it and how decisions are made. We will also give you more detail about the panel making decisions and let you know how you could become more involved.

However this site is not just about funding but also an opportunity for all residents of the ward to highlight and showcase all the good work that is already going on in the Ward.
